Mission Grow My Hair

So a few weeks ago, I was en el bus (on the bus) going to work... this lady got on, she looked no younger than 60 (face wise) but when she turned around she had THE MOST AMAZING LONG THICK HAIR! She got off at the same bus stop as me...and this is how the lady looked from behind... (ok admittedly my actions where type stalkerish, but I was just amazed) ...

Tell me you dont think her hair is amazing? for a 60 year old... I mean how many 60 year old women do you see with curves like that, and hair like that?? ... I swear she put me to shame!!! hahaha when I got to work, I decided ok Jennifer lets be serious, your almost half her age, and your hair needs improving (my body needs some TLC too but lets leave that for another post!) ... for a while back I had been wishing etc to have long hair, but wasn't really doing much about it... and that's when MISSION GROW MY HAIR begun... what am I using? see below...

I have been taking the above, Phyto Phanere, for about 3 weeks now, they are supplements to help combat thinning hair (which I do have, sad to say) and also helps with strengthening your nails. Now yesterday I had my scalp analyzed with a capilicam, and there was CLEAR EVIDENCE OF NEW HAIR GROWING! can i get a WHOOPWHOOPP!!! haha ... My nails definately feel alot stronger, and are growing nicely. I've also noticed a nice improvement in my lashes! My hair  feels and looks better already, but that is also down to a hair oil which I use twice a week called Subtil Elixir (by Phyto also).

Each bottle last 2 months, you take 2 capsules a day, I take mine every morning before breakfast.
They contain Vitamins B2, B5, B6, B8, C & E and Essential fatty acids (Borage Oil). They also contain Rosemary Extract (Rosemary is very widely known to help with thinning hair)

VOLUMIZING PRODUCTS - PhytoVolume Actif, John Frieda Luxurious Volume and Garnier Crystal Resist Hairspray

Hey ladies... so I have been testing out a few hair products for the past few days, they are Volumizing products.

I have quite fine hair, and I am forever looking at products that will give me good volume when I blow dry...
For a few years I have been using PhytoVolume Actif, and although I do like it, I wanted to experiment with a different product and see how it would compare.

JOHN FRIEDA COLLECTION - Luxurious Volume (Thermo Protect)
as far as volume is concerned, I have to give it a 9/10 ... however, the only thing I didnt like was how my hair felt around the roots once dry. It felt a little sticky... but the volume lasted the whole day/night... so overal I have to say i do like it, and would defo recommend it.

GARNIER FRUCTIS STYLE - Crystal Resist Hairspray
This hair spray is amazing, have to give it a 10/10 I loved how you get just enough product out without it all coming out at once and concentrating on one section as some hairsprays do (i know its the nozzel that sucks) but it also doesnt feel as sticky as some hair sprays do, and doesnt leave residue either. I used this on 2 clients hair to hold their curls, and they both had curls in tact even the next day.

PHYTOVOLUME ACTIF SPRAY
Compared to the John Frieda Volume lotion, this one isnt as good. Even though its more expensive, volume wise it gives probably half as much volume. However, what I do like is that it doesnt feel as sticky as the John Frieda volume lotion. I would still recommend this product, but for half the price you can get better results from the John Frieda Volume Lotion, plus it protects from heat when styling.

I bought the John Frieda Volume Lotion & the Fructis Hairspray from Tescos supermarket.
Phyto products are available in Selfridges, John Lewis, pharmacies, salons and also from Feelunique.com, Lookfantastic.com and other online stockists.

BIRTHDAY TREAT...

Saturday was a bit of a mad one for me, as well as exhausting... I had a photoshoot in the morning, which hopefully I will have pics to show soon, and then in the afternoon I was in East London making a birthday girl look even more gorgeous for her night out... a well deserved night out!

BEFORE
AFTER
Alejandra wanted a smokey silver look...
I applied a silver shadow to the eyelid
Grey shadow to the crease
Black shadow to the outer 'V'
Eyes where lined on the top and lower lashes
Ardell lashes where then applied - I looooove these Ardell lashes!! they look so natural
Her lips where lined with NARS lipliner then the rest of the lips filled in with a nude lipstick

Her hair was very very curly, so I applied Phyto Defrisant Balm all over the hair, then blowdried section by section...
I then used hair straighteners to give it a smooth/sleek look
Finally, I used curling irons to do some loose curls to the ends of the hair.

I think she looked fab!

HOLY COMMUNION - Mother & Daughter Hair/Makeup

This past weekend, my Godaughter along with her brothers celebrated their First Holy Communion, so I was in charge of her hair as well as her mothers hair and makeup :) ...

DANIELLA - My Godaughter

Daniella sabia exactamente lo que queria! she didnt want tight curls, and she didnt want something like 'all the other girls' (those where her exact words!) and she was adamant she wanted braids!! so I had to come up with something simple, but nice for the ocasion, and so I decided on two very small braids at the front and then the rest of the hair was curled in more or less lose curls...

MONICA

With Monica, originally we where going to go for something dramatic on the eyes, and we where going to leave her hair down... a lo ultimo decidimos en el cabello recojido in a very modern side chignon (bun) and suttle on the eyes but a nice vibrant lip color ...

EYES:
NEW C.I.D COSMETICS CONCEALER - this worked really well as a base!
http://www.newcidcosmetics.co.uk/i-conceal-face-p-7.html

MAC EYESHADOW IN NAKED LUNCH
LIGHT BROWN ON THE CREASE - using Manly Palette
DARKER BROWN ON THE OUTER 'V' - again using an eyeshadow from my Manly Palette
NEW GIRLS ALOUD EYELURE LASHES - Cheryl Cole full and flirty lashes
BOURJOIS LIQUID LINER - black
AVON GLIMMERSTICK EYELINER - black

LIPS:
NO.17 LIPGLOSS IN A BERRY PINK SHADE (cant remember the name sorry!)

FACE:
USED MONICAS OWN FOUNDATION

HAIR

Her hair was slightly damp and using a flat brush I brushed her hair to the side and with a strong hair band held it in place then with a few hair grips i manipulated it into a chignon (not too messy but not too neat)
then using Phyto Sculpting Gel I set the rest of the hair making sure there where no wispy bits.

Happy Valentines Day 2011!!!

So the day is finally here... hope everyone enjoyed it!!!

Today I had a full session of pampering - ok I did the pampering on my friend who wanted to make an extra extra special effort for her boyfriend...

The session consisted of a quick manicure and pedicure, hair styling and last of all makeup followed by a mini foto shoot lol :0)

I hope you ladies like the final outcome and will hopefully be inspired to try this for any other ocassion.

BEFORE: Hair already styled using Babyliss Curling Irons, PhytoSpecific Integral Haircare Heat Protecting Spray, Phytoprofessional Hair Spray and finished off with PhytoSpecific Extreme Shine Spray (this is Jennifers own hair, no extensions where used)

AFTER:

As usual before applying makeup, Jennifers skin was prepped with Urban Decay Complexion Potion, and Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer on her eyes, followed by NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk.

EYES:
I applied a matte eyeshadow in skin tone shade from my Manly Palette all over the eye including the brow bown. This was then followed by applying a pigment by NYX in Rust Pearl only on the lid. On the outer corner and into the crease I used a silver-grey eyeshadow which was then blended with a different brush. As a highlight on the brow bone I used MAC Naked Lunch. I then lined her eyes with Bourjois Liquid Liner in Black and ontop of this I applied Avon Glimmerstick in Black. Then I applied lashes by Eyelure. For her eyebrows I used a matte brown eyeshadow to fill in and shape them more.

FACE:
Jennifer brought her own foundation which I loved using! Definately recommend it - Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 9-natural suede. I then contoured her nose and cheeks with Sleek Face Contour Powder in Medium and then as a highlight we also used one that Jennifer brough - Giorgio Armani i think the shade was Sienna (not too sure!) this was like a golden highlight, excellent!!! loved using it. For slight colour on the cheeks, again we used a powder from Jennifers makeup - Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in Light Rose.

LIPS:
For the lips, Jennifer wanted me to use her favourite lippy which went well with the whole look, it was a nude colour by Dolce & Gabanna... unfortunately I forgot to note the actual shade... but you can just use any nude colour lipstick.

THE PHOTO SHOOT:
Here are a few more pics, doesnt she look UHHH-MAZING!!!????

I had so much fun today doing this makeup session! An I am positive that Jennifers man is gonna be blown away!!! ;0)

A Birthday Makeover :)

My cutie friend was celebrating her birthday this past weekend, and as a lil birthday treat from me, I gave her a mini makeover by styling her hair and doing her makeup... She doesnt wear alot of makeup so I needed to do something suttle but cute.

BEFORE with hair already styled...

AFTER

For her hair, Viviana wanted some loose curls in her hair, so I used my Babyliss Curler - not too sure about the barrel size! but these curlers are awesome!!!! I bought mine in Argos for less than £40.00 They curls easily, heat up very quickly and has 4 heat settings which means most hair types can be curled.

Viviana mentioned she had recently broke out in a few spots so we tackled that with some concealer. I also used the same concealer on a few other areas to cover some blemishes, this is to help even out the complexion before foundation - concealer can be applied before and after foundation, it comes down to preference, and there is no right or wrong!  :)

I prepped her skin with Urban Decay Complexion Primer and then applied NYC Foundation.

I used Too Faced Eyeshadow Primer on the lids, this apart from making eyeshadow last longer also helps to even out the skin colour on the lids. I then applied NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, and followed by applying a pinkish pigment by NYX in Sky Pink Pearl (this was applied only to the eyelid) on the rest of the eye I applied MAC Naked Lunch, and then applied a small amount of White Shadow from my Manly Eyeshadow Palette just under the brow bone. To slightly contour her eye I used a very light brown. I lined her eyes with Avon Glimmerstick in Black and Bourjois Liquid Liner also in Black.

Using a brownish eyeshadow, I filled in her eyebrows - If you do not have an eyebrow pencil, just use a brown or black shadow to fill in your eyebrows...

I did a bit of contouring on her cheeks using Sleek Face Contour Kit in Medium, and then used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle as a highlighter. I then followed by using 17 Cheek Blush in Nude on the apples of her cheeks.

For the lips, i lightly lined her lips with NARS Lip Liner in Marine and then applied Barry M's Lipgloss in Bubble Gum.

So set the makeup, I used Loreal True Match super-blendable powder in Miel Honey and then spritz some MAC Fix+ finishing mist.

For the hair, I used TRESemme Salon Finish Extra hold Hairspray before curling each section. Then once I had finished I sprayed PHYTO Workable Holding Spray

Here are a few more pics de la hermosa Viviana :) Happy Birthday once again suga!!!!
