BIRTHDAY TREAT...

Saturday was a bit of a mad one for me, as well as exhausting... I had a photoshoot in the morning, which hopefully I will have pics to show soon, and then in the afternoon I was in East London making a birthday girl look even more gorgeous for her night out... a well deserved night out!

BEFORE
AFTER
Alejandra wanted a smokey silver look...
I applied a silver shadow to the eyelid
Grey shadow to the crease
Black shadow to the outer 'V'
Eyes where lined on the top and lower lashes
Ardell lashes where then applied - I looooove these Ardell lashes!! they look so natural
Her lips where lined with NARS lipliner then the rest of the lips filled in with a nude lipstick

Her hair was very very curly, so I applied Phyto Defrisant Balm all over the hair, then blowdried section by section...
I then used hair straighteners to give it a smooth/sleek look
Finally, I used curling irons to do some loose curls to the ends of the hair.

I think she looked fab!

ELF Waterproof Line ... yeay or nay?!

Very short post for now... but I just had to say how dissapointed I am with ELF's Waterproof Eyeliner...

http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/
I know it was a cheap buy, so this time round I guess you are getting what you pay for...
The tip has already some fluffy bit hanging off...
It feels like its very dry - i dunno maybe i was sent a dried up pen???
It tugs a bit on the skin...
It takes quite a few strokes to get a decent line...

Now I have to say that although I will not be purchasing this pen again... the only pros to it is... the price... (if that is a pro?) and that whatever I have applied, does actually last a while...

Have any of you tried this Eyeliner Pen before???? Do you find it to be quite dry??? or could it just be that I was sent a dried up one???? What liquid liner do you use????

Would love to know your thoughts....

also... want to take the opportunity to say a big welcome to my new subbies so if your reading this... HEY :) !!

AUTUMN BRIGHTS.... Colaboration with Ayshe @ DiscoveringBeauty

Hey loves... so today I finally had the opportunity to collaborate in a blog post with Ayshe from Discovering Beauty (YEAYYY!!)

lol plz excuse my retard face in this pic!
We had been planning to do this for a while and it was so much fun, anything to do with talking bout makeup and cosmetics is fun to me!! lol
http://discoveringbeautytoday.blogspot.com/
Todays posting will be about 'Autumn Brights' or for my USA/Canada readers 'Fall Brights' - generally this time of the year, people tend to stick to Greens, Golds and Browns, so we took it a step away from the norm and went for a Teal & Purple look... I know I have done a post with a similar look, and many others have used the same look under 'Peacock' Eyes Makeup looks, but we took inspiration from Ayshe's dress which she was wearing to a wedding... it has teals, blues, and purple all over... so pwetty! :)

Ayshe has only just started experimenting with colour and I think she should carry on using a mix of colours on her eyes, she has beautiful big brown eyes so anything dramatic is going to look UH-MAZIN! see below for some more pics and brief description on what was used ...

Before... always gta have a before pic! :)
She had already applied her base

After Pic... contoured, highlighted, nude lips, bright eyes, eyebrows shaped and filled in - she looked so beautiful :) I know she must have made an impact at the wedding... sorry bride, if she took your lime light!! uupppsssss ;)

  • Eyes primed with Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Then ontop applied NYX Jumbo Pencil in 'Milk' - blend with finger
  • Apply teal coloured all over lid
  • Apply a purple in the crease - then blend in to diminish any harsh lines
  • Apply a highlighter to the brow bone - I used MAC Naked Lunch
  • Apply a goldish pigment to the inner corners then blend into the teal colour
  • ELF Cream Liner used to line the upper lashes
  • Apply Lashes - we used ELF lashes
  • Apply mascara to blend the natural lash with the fake lashes
  • Line lowe lashes with an Aqua/Teal liner
  • Line the water line with a black kohl
  • Using concealer (we used MAC) tidy up under the eyes and conceal any dark circles
  • Fill in and shape eyebrows - we used Rimmel Brow Pencil in Hazel

  • We contoured using SLEEK Contour Kit in Light
  • Applied highlight to the cheek bone
  • Applied a rose/pink blush then blended it all together
  • Apply a nude liner to lips, then apply lipstick - we used SLEEK lipstck but i forgot the shade! eekk sorry
And here is the final look :) ... again ;)
Watch out for Ayshe's post on todays makeup experience ... and if you are not already subscribed to her blog, go ahead an subscribe!! :)

Sleeks 'The Original' Palette

I have two Sleek palettes which to be honest have probably only ever used a handful of times... I just havent really seen the color intensity like I've seen on other people... so I quite honestly gave up on them... I found them to be far too shimmery and not as easy to blend... however! I decided to give it one last try... because I am really liking the new palettes that have come out, and want to get them, but I want to make sure I can make the one I already have work for me... sooooo I used the original palette...

Out of the 12 colors I used 3 to achieve the below:

The colors do not have a name so I named them myself ...

PINK - for the main colour
OLIVE - for the outer half of the eye
BRONZE/BROWN - for the outer 'V' and crease
As you can see from the main pic, you cant really notice much of the Olive type green or the Bronze/Brown... but eitherway, I actually felt alot more satisfied with the look this time... to be honest the pictures dont do it much justice...

THE PRODUCTS USED TODAY (I havent shown my whole face in this post as I wanted to focus more on the eyes, but thought I would list all the products I used today anyways)

EYES:
Barbara Daly Eyeshadow Pen in Shimmer Sand as a base
Sleeks Paletter 'The Original'

ELF Mascara

FACE:
ELF Tinted Moisturizer in Beige

INEXPENSIVE NOSE STRIPS

REVITALE DEEPLY ABSORBENT NOSE STRIPS

I think by now my fellow readers/followers you may have guessed that I am not snobbish when it comes to cosmetics ( or atleast I hope you've all realized this ) so when I tell you that I found some really good nose strips at the 99p store (equivalent to the 99C store) it shouldnt really surprise you! lol

I usually go for Biore Nose Strips, they work wonders! I always say I will keep using them atleast once a week but yeah NEVER happens! ggrrrr so anyways, I was walking past the 99p store and remembered a few years back one of my besties saying how she had found some really good nose strips from there, so I went in and looked for some, and came across Revitale Deeply Absorbent Nose Strips (deep magnetic cleansing) these strips contain natural charcoal extract (yeah i know i was also like what! CHARCOAL?!) Witch Hazel, Tea Tree and Sylica.

It is recommended that you use no more than 1 strip a week, and since there are 6 strips in each pack, thats a lovely 6 weeks of deep cleansing...

why do I love nose strips??? Well I have quite a few open pores on my nose, which to be honest you cant really notice them, but hey I do some major face inspections in the mirror!! so I obviously notice all this crap lol .... nose strips pull out about 70% of the dirt that lays in the open pores, and help to tighten them too... whenever I peel off the strips, it looks like a colony! lmao ... aayyyy but anywhooo so my nose looks and feels better after each treatment... If you have never tried a nose strip, i highly recommend you try them out!! a lil secret between you and me... I've even used them on the hubby! :)

So, at 99p a box, again you just cant go wrong!! highly recommend these, and the Biore ones too... so take your pick, and give them a go!!

Barbara Daly Eyeshadow Pens

::BARBARA DALY EYESHADOW PENS::

A couple of months back, I stumbled through the Barbara Daly makeup stand at Tescos supermarket... I bought an liquid eyeshadow which is currently part of my daily makeup routine... so a few days ago I went back to see what else I could pick up and I came across 2 new products... the BD Eyeshadow Pens... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM...

SHIMMER SAND - a nice gold/pink shade
SHELL - more of a shimmery silver shade
They where both £4.75 comes in 3 shades, the shades that I purchased are SHELL & SHIMMER SAND ... they give a nice irridescent colour, which is buildable by adding a few extra layers.... super easy to use, and very well packaged... its a twist up creamy type pencil so glides on nicely without tugging at the skin... I use my fingers to blend the color in, but you can use a synthetic brush like the MAC 242 would also blend it nicely...
You really cant go wrong with these eyeshadow pens...

Saturdays FOTD with E.L.F Cosmetics

ELF Cosmetics have been featured in a few magazines and is slowly becoming very popular... its a brand which is inexpensive yet pretty good...

I recently purchased a few things that I needed, e.g Mascara since I have already run out of my usual one which is my fav mascara - L'Oreal Telescopic

So, the following things I purchased from ELF Cosmetics http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/

  1. Tinted Moisturiser in Beige - £3.50
  2. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black £1.50
  3. Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara in Black £3.50
  4. Plumping Lip Glaze in Mauve Berry £1.50
All the above was £10.00 only ... there was no carriage charge as ELF was doing a promo whereby carriage was FREE if you spent £10.00 or more ...

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! the tinted moisturizer!! The weather was quite warm, so I didnt want to wear full foundation... the tinted moisturizer felt super light, almost as if I had 'nada' on... but yet managed to even out my skin tone... the beige shade is the PERFECT match for my skin! the beige is described for skin tones that are light to medium with yellow undertones... usually tinted moisturizers look either too pink on me, or too ashy! ATLAST I found one which suits me perfectly!!! the best thing of all, I didnt look oily, and it didnt sink into my pores/scars ... it just made me look like i had a gorgeous healthy glow :) I didnt wear any bronzer, or blush, only used a little highlighter on the cheek bones and brushed it up to the temples...

On the eyes, I used Barbara Dalys Eyeshadow pen in Shimmer Sand then lined the eyes with ELF Waterproof Eyeliner... the liner, I have mixed feelings about... the tip is quite stiff, and I thought it was dried up! but after a few strokes it gave quite a good even line... its great for when you want a really fine line close to the lashes, and it was great for using under the lower lashes, as I feel that when you use a liquid liner usually it comes out a bit harsh, but this looked quite nice... the Mascara was ok too... I wouldnt say I am hooked, I still think L'Oreal Telescopic is the best... but its great value for money, so I would still recommend it...

I cant get over how good the tinted moisturizer is!!

As for the lips, well I used the Plumping Lip Glaze in Mauve Berry... to be honest, I find that ELF glosses in general are VERY sheer... on my lips the color just seems to look as though there is no color? Well it doesnt show up in pics... in person its not so bad... My lips are quite thick anyways, so not sure if I saw any extra plumping... it defo doesnt sting as bad as conventional plumping products, but you do get that minty tingle sensation... eitherway, its still pretty good, and at £1.50 a pop, its a good bargain!!

you can purchase all ELF cosmetics by visiting http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/ ... its worth signing up to their newsletters or joining their FB page, as they are always doing FREE P&P offers and discounts too ...
